Frequently Asked Questions

Does my parent need to learn anything new?

Not at all. The extension works quietly in their existing email client (Gmail, Outlook web, etc.). They see clear, friendly green or yellow banners on their messages without having to click anything.

How do I add a new sender they trust?

Open your dashboard on your phone or computer, click “Add Sender”, and enter their email address. It updates on your parent's computer right away.

Is their personal email private?

Yes. Emails are reviewed inside their own browser, on their computer. The message, its subject and its attachments are never sent to our servers. Whether an email genuinely came from its sender is worked out in the browser too. For a sender we cannot place, the browser may ask our servers one thing: how long the sender's web address (the part after the @) has existed. The email address itself is not sent. So that your dashboard is up to date, the browser also tells us that an email was checked and what came of it, as a count: nothing the email says, and not who sent it. When they press the button to send an email on to you, the email goes from their mailbox to yours, not through us. We are told that they asked, the sender's web address, and three scrambled marks that stand for the sender, the subject and their mailbox. The marks cannot be read back; they only let their browser recognise the email again, so it can show them your answer.
